A Code of Ethics should be seen as the constitution of an organisation. In line with the King III draft report, a Code of Ethics should address the specific ethical risk of each organisation.
While a Code in itself cannot change behaviours, it summarises an organisation's ethical commitment, and forms a crucial part of their Ethics Management Programme.
Many Codes of Ethics are however written (and presented) in a very legalistic way - which means that most of the staff members do not read these important documents.
